If you are looking for a fast and easy way to remove the clamps and also to securely re-install the clamps I suggest purchasing the MTJ-770. I really like how securely the MTJ-770 gets the clamps onto the System 3 filter when reassembling the lid. Nothing like a drilled on tight lid to make you feel safe and prevent any possible leaks.
Dec 11, 2013 · I have the version before the Remington 770, i bought it about 5-6 yrs ago. I haven't had any issues with it, shoot great. My only complaint is the bolt feels like it drags no matter how much you lube it. Other than that it is a great economical combo.

Jul 15, 2009 · Good shooter but poor bolt action, that's the only downfall to the 770 series. I suggest you google the 770/710 (same gun basically) series, I came across a forum where some guy had bought one similar and took it in for the same thing to make the bolt action smoother in operation.

If you damage a 770 barrel, you're left with a Remington "door stop", "crutch", or "boat paddle". Even if you do get one that works well, it's pretty much yours until you decide to give it to someone or scrap it.
